I'm now officially a multi-shipper.

Fandom: CSI, Original Gangsta Version. Pairings SO FAR -- keep in mind I've only seen half of seasons 1 and 2 to date:

1) Catherine/Grissom. It is like Crusher/Picard, but with more pole-dancing! (He's a socially awkward academic who knows everything about everything, she's a single mom with more than a little snark in her, and they've got a possibly-angsty as-yet-undetermined past...)

2) Sara/Grissom. Geek mating rituals, omg!

3) Sara/Nicky. The cuteness kills me dead in totally unexplained ways!

Ritual stoning may now commence.

If you can help me as to figuring out how to get DVDs into .avi format or similar for internet uploads, I can upload up to the end of season 3 for you, I have them on DVD. I used to be a Catherine/Grissom 'shipper. Sara/Grissom mostly. I jumped 'ship at the end of season 5 because I got bored waiting. :P

Other pairings, Catherine/Warrick, Nick/Greg, Catherine/Sofia, Brass/Sofia.

I wish I knew how to do that!! No clue. I guess I'll just have to wait and watch them on TV... which is fine, since I don't have a lot of time. I found the seasons for sale at costco for $35!! But I still have no time. Arg.

I have much love for Catherine and Grissom, but in a way where they don't ever actually have to get together. It's like I 'ship their current friendship or something. :) Not that I would be opposed to the wild sexing or anything, but you know what I mean.

I have only seen hints of Sara/Grissom so far and haven't quite figured it out yet, but it is so adorable on screen!

I think I'd only support Nick/Greg if they'd occasionally take me in as a third party. ;)

I wore the bracelet you gave me yesterday and thought of you! I actually wear it quite often, whenever I'm in a gold jewelry themed outfit instead of a silver one. :)

Will you wear the bracelet when you stone me! *is being dramatic, omg* I still feel guilty because I have all these things to send you and not the money to send them and they sit there and I want them to be sent but I have a trip coming up and omg! And it's so far after your birthday! *woes*

... and I actually have to have anti-ships I'm such a horrible multi-shipper. It's a sad, sad state of affairs. (Or if you live on the multi-shipper state of the pond, we say yay and start babbling about Jonas/Cameron with each other... no, don't ask...)

YAY!!! I'm so glad it's possible to like both of those pairings at the same time and that I'm not aloooone.

I've so far not developed any love for Catherine/Warrick, though in one of the other-season episodes I caught in repeats it seemed like they were An Item. So, who knows? :)

I am currently in crazed-addiction phase where CSI is concerned because they started from the beginning on Spike! Gira and I have decided that we can't watch it before bed anymore, though.

I HEART BRASS. Except in the pilot episode when he's all bizarrely evil and scares the heck out of me.

*highfives you and the Sara slapping*

And my friend who watches the Dead Zone told me they NEVER explained Dana's leaving. She likes to think Dana's slutting it up in like Hartford as a reporter there or something.

I know that is SO WEIRD to rewatch! Because he's not all Mr. Cuddly Jaded Cop, and instead... creepy.

From: [identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com
Yeah, I noticed that. I'm watching season 3 now and she's just... mysteriously absent. They haven't had any other reporters coming around, though, so it's likely she's still in Bangor and just off the police beat. :) I also heard a rumor she comes back in season 4 sometime, so I'll need to investigate!

And Sara needs a good slapping, poor girl. Gira and I are trying to differentiate the Catherine-bitchiness from the Sara-bitchiness, and can't figure out quite how to define it. Because I'm always delighted by how awesomely bitchy and catty Catherine can be... and then Gira points out that Sara is much bitchier. But it's DIFFERENT! Help?

HEE!! *delighted by the way you phrased that*

I know! It's like my 'shippy li'l brain can't decide where to go first!

Sadly, most of the fic I've encountered on the internet is of the flailing teen-angst "omg he TALKED TO ANOTHER GIRL!" variety or the equally flailing "I tripped and now I'm PREGNANT!" sort. (And yes, I am inspired to write my own fic... sadly, it's not actually that much better than those previously mentioned! Oy. I don't yet have a finger on the characters, it seems.)

Date: 2006-07-22 06:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thiswaltz.livejournal.com
there is a lot of that sort of fic, isn't there. not to mention they way the fandom went all explody after the season ended (which incidentally was *just after I started following it on Spike, talk about intimidating introduction...). I do like this person's fic (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/8386/), and this person's (http://cappuccinogirl.com/fiction.htm) for Grissom/Sara. I haven't found much Catherine/Grissom fic that I like, even though I like it better on screen. why is that i wonder.

And I promise you with CSI it ONLY GETS WORSE.

BRING IT ON!

:)

Is it wrong of me to feel like Warrick is sort of a temple of hotness all by himself and so throwing other people into the mix is just... bringing down the average hotness of the situation? ;) Actually, that's just an excuse for me not having found a 'ship for him yet.

And Catherine and Grissom! I LOVE pairings that make me squeee as-is, without my needing to extrapolate. I love that she gets him (though I'm not entirely sure that he realizes that) and that he trusts her (as much as he trusts anyone, which isn't... well, isn't that much, really). So, I don't really want them to go all "omg I am JEALOUS AND I LOVE YOU MAKE BABIES OMG!" (for real: NO) but I also like that they're so important in each other's lives, and think any relationship they form with other people would have to let them still be friends.

Now, granted they might surprise me and it would rock massively but it's like building the perfect sandcastle. you don't wanna *breathe* on it :-p

I hate how much that sounded like a challenge. ;) However, I hate MORE that I'm coming on board the fandom so late that I really can't write it without being horribly ashamed, since I don't have the proper pulse on the characters and have no idea where they're going to go. Alas! Challenge must go unanswered, I suppose.

I do think it could rock massively... but it'd probably be different than any other relationship ever. *shrugs* I haven't figured it out yet.

Me, I'm just trying to choose whether I want Nicky or Liam the Lab Tech Greg to be my TV boyfriend. :)

And dude, the slashiness must be amaaaazing. Who's the fandom-ordained slash OTP? Nicky/Warrick?

Jumping around randomly more (I'm commenting as I'm falling asleep, wheee), I notice that Warrick/Sara is one of your picks... it's funny, because in watching season 1, I was commenting how it's a choose-your-own-'ship paradise, but Sara/Warrick was the one that I really couldn't see. I will watch more closely!!

*contemplates mix-and-match new-fandom project of having to write a scene for every possible pairing...*

*nods* exactly! My favorite scene todate is the one where Catherine is sorta sloshed in Gil's apartment and she's advising him to call Sara and, generally, act like a human being *G* and she's so easy and free and he's so comfortable with it. Yeah, *HUGE* Holy grail as friendships onscreen go. It's just *EEEEEEE* *G*

Ohemgeee can't wait to see that!!!! That sounds fantastic! Yay. :) And I LOVE how she totally called up Grissom's bone-analyst girlfriend just to force him into going on a date. LOVE IT. It reminds me of TNG relationships in that no matter what sort of sexual/relationship attraction might be there, the friendship is always paramount (this seems true for most of the CSI pairings I've encountered, except Sara/Grissom, I guess).

*SNICKER* Well tis me. We do tend to do that to each other massively. (And eee can you imagine CSI: Atlantis? Now that is an AU *G*)

Wait, you mean 'lantis folk as CSIs or CSI folk in spaaaace? Because I think I like the latter better. What this show needs is a good alien abduction!

It's you, I do not see how in any way shape or form this could be bad!!!!

Trust me, everything I write is coming out massively out of character because I just don't know the characters well enough to get their dialogue! Plus my muse still seems to be stupid. *kicks meds*

However, your challenge is brewing.

Ironically? Nick/Sara is the one that I don't really see in that sense.

I tried writing a Sara/Nicky story that popped into my head, and... it totally ended up as friendship. I think any relationship that would grow here would have to be slow-burn, and that requires lots of writing, bugger it. I don't know why I like them so much, I just... really really do. It just seems like a relationship that wouldn't be explosive, which is nice every now and again!! ;) I guess this is one of those where I really love the potential for their friendship and think they'd be really good for each other, and that it has the potential to grow into something awesome. Y'know?

BWAH! is that a 'per season' thing or overall? because over all? That is a *LOTTA* pairings *EG*

Let's just go with "main characters per season"! That seems a little less exponential.

p.s. Is the Sofia you keep mentioning the blonde girl who shows up later? What's her deal? Does she replace Brass, or...?

I always see them sort of making out then looking at each other and just *cracking up*. It's like "Us? THIS? BWAHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Oh, totally! But wouldn't that be adorable? And so it keeps happening, and it's always ridiculous, until it isn't.

Yeah, it's one of those "I gotta work on this over a period of time and not just BOOM! SEXIN!"

Isn't it just really annoying not to have the option of an 'aliens made them do it' clause??

It's one of my bulletproof kinks. Normalcy in the insanity.

I am SO THERE in the kevlar with you, baby. Like totally non-dramatic angst over someone using someone else's toothbrush, or something. :) I think that's part of the reason why we both love the scene where Catherine's drinking in Grissom's apartment, too, because it's just... so ordinary. I like seeing him ordinary, even though it will be his own brand of ordinariness. Methinks that boy will require a very patient trainer girlfriend.

I'd love to find a series of either short fics or one long one that lets it play really because with *THAT* I'd be able to relax and just go for it. With what I've seen, not so much.

No! Nooooo!! Keep that bunny flock away from meeeeee!! And... snickers? Bwahahaha! (Why does the word "snick" sound so familiar? Like it was a... TV channel or something?) Oh well, it's no worse than Dippers and Drippers and whatever other scary names we had over in the X-Files fandom. And it's oddly accurate, since the fanfic I've passed by in search of good fanfic has seemed a little too sweet, nutty, and without much nutritional value. ;)

I mean, the vibe you get is they occasionally hang out because hello, she's kinda sloshed (it seems like that's how Marg played it as Catherine being a bit tipsy.) and she's COMFY in his place.

I just saw that scene! And you are SO RIGHT! It is friendship perfection, and omg, I love her indulgent and proud little smiles as he's on the phone, and it's just... SO WELL DONE YAY. She is so totally different from him, and I love love love all the little scenes where he's drawn to that alienness about her. (How she is not opposed to living humans, for one.) And the bit about how she's comfy in his place!!! Wasn't there a scene in another episode where he's all "I'm not USED to having PEOPLE in my HOUSE" at her, and she's all "Yes, whatever." I love the idea that she's allowed to lounge around his sanctum sanctorum and no one else is. :)

She's such a yenta with him it's adorable.

It's almost like... sisterly priviledges. The way he'd kill anyone else, but he can't kill her because she's Catherine, for better or worse. ;)

I was originally thinking 'lantis as CSIs...

Hrm. I'm having a really hard time picturing how the two bunches of people would interact. Ford and Nicky would have to forge a mutual defense pact to get people to stop making fun of them.

As far as CSIs in spaaaaace? I'm still hooked on this alien abduction notion. :) Actually, I've been jonesing for more X-file-y mayhem in CSI-world, mostly because the opening scenes of CSI and the opening scenes of X-Files are often so similar, and that one episode where Sara's all rooting for spontaneous human combustion and Warrick is rightfully mocking her. (I'd yell Sara/Mulder OTP! at this moment except... they would totally forget to have sex ever.) At any rate.

just keep 'em set in Season 1 and they'll sound like season 1.

But see, so much about the characters' backstory hasn't come to light yet. Like, I was writing friendshipish fic in which Sara and Nicky get hammered (as they would), and then I'm coming across fics online which all seem to indicate Sara is AA, and now I'm all "er?" because that's something I wouldn't know yet. See my dilemma? And also, I really hope Sara's not an alcoholic, because I'm digging on this notion of her just being weird and workaholic and socially withdrawn all on her own without having Dramatic Television Reasons For Making Her Be So, y'know? I'll just nurse that fantasy while it lasts.

Just for you... since I'm trying to explore this fandom, wanna challenge me for one-scene ficlets? Set in season 1 or 2 (either generally or specifically in-episode, in which case I'll only bite if I've seen it)... give me a character or a pairing, a setting (location, time of day, or otherwise) aaaand... a sentence of either dialogue or prose. :) I'll pick two out of the three and try to write you scenes!

Oh, Medie, I love you and have missed our ridiculously long comment!spam!! It's probably a good thing that livejournal restrains our comment limits or we'd go on for pages. Actually, that would be awesome too. *GRINS*

Warrick/OFC FBI Agent. Scandalize Grissom :-p

Scandalize Grissom? I think this is one of those things that I haven't yet seen in my first-and-second-season world. Oh well! :)

It's absolutely one of the best written friendships on screen and I keep wanting to grab people and say "don't you know how rare as hen's teeth that is?!!!"

I know I know I know!!!! And I'm LOVING how Catherine's husband keeps insinuating that she and Grissom are together, and neither of them even bats an eye. I just saw the scene where he throws her husband off her all RAR PROTECTION RAR, and I just about died of joy. I mean, I love anything that gets a rise out of Grissom, but zomg. IT IS SUCH GLEEE!

However, CSI does manage to be a little heavy-handed with it's "evil" characters... Catherine's husband is at least honestly a bastard loser in a believable way, but Eckley is just... cartoony. It's so funny.

And back to friendship... I LOVE TV FRIENDSHIPS!!! It's like... I should be a slasher, because I most love watching guy's guy friendships (like O'Brien and Bashir on DS9 and Nicky and Warrick on CSI) but I really really don't want them to do sex. It's possible this is just heteronormative of me... but guy-best-friends don't always have sex with each other! Really, they don't! And I just like some of these pairings better without sex and unrequited lust and stuff.

I am home now! And found my comment from last night! I was so tired I apparently forgot to post it. ;)

.....

We clearly rule at it and all should try to emulate our spamminess (while sekritly weeping in dismay at the fact they'll never be this awesome *G*)

Their awesomeness is INSUFFICIENT! Take that, rest of livejournal. ;)

Grissom *REALLY* hates the FBI.

There was that one episode when the Feddies showed up and were all declaring the case solved right and left and everyone's all "But! We haven't! Wha?" And I just saw that episode where Sara was all "I AM RUNNING AWAY AND JOINING THE FBI," so I suppose that threat makes more sense now that I know that he's especially opposed to them.

it's so damn hard to get a real rise out of Grissom with anything but man, that one he was just...I *squealed*. It was just a scene that hits all my kinks and Grissom mad is just rare as rare gets and it's so *HOT* when he lets himself react.

I squeal just thinking about it! OMG. Grissom all pissed off and defending someone is just... MORE, PLZ. I waaaant to know the history with him and her and her marriage, dammit! All I know is that he somehow knew Eddie was cheating on her and didn't say, so I was all "oh, he must've been friends with her ex" and now I have no idea. I am totally loving it all through my ignorance, though!

The writers were *CONSTANTLY* going "Blah, blah, me, stripper, single mother, eddie, blah, blah..."

I know! It's kind of a wonder that she manages to get up in the shift-specific-morning and get any work done with all the baggage she's carrying around. It would be nice to see her... get over it. And not just in a shut-UP-already! sort of way, but to see her go "you know, I think I'm done being defensive/vitimized/traumatized by X and am ready for the next thing." I think she's just as drawn to and fascinated by Grissom's apparent serenity as he is to her emotional impulsiveness. Like... neither of them quite know what to do with that part of the other, but recognize that they're missing it, and so find it mostly fascinating and a little infuriating. :) Friendship tehr0xx0rz!! :)

Sara/Grissom has always felt way too incestuous ;-)
As for Sara, I'm with the slapping crowd. She just has this snotty air about her that makes me want to slap her every time I see her.

Catherine/Grissom is just... so damn perfect the way they are *sniffs*
The angst, omg THE ANGST ;-)
Although in the "Will they, Won't they" thing, I have my money on "They Won't" and somehow I'm perfectly fine with that :-)
And I like the comparison you make to Picard and Crusher.

In later seasons I must admit I've also started to lean towards Catherine/Warwick. OMG, the pretty!!
I know Warwick/Me is no option, however much I may want it *g* but I'll =gladly= settle for Catherine/Warwick ;-)

I totally wanted to slap Sara constantly until I started watching the early seasons... and she's so fabulously interesting! I mean, she's obnoxious with her snottiness and superiority and such, but I'm fascinated by her. I'm not sure how she'd fit into a relationship yet, though (since she, er, doesn't really seem to have them...)

Is there delightful Catherine/Grissom angst??? Really? Tell me tell me!

Catherine/Grissom angst could be me projecting wildly, but the whole "will they, won't they" thing tends to go up and down quite a bit during the first two seasons. No concrete scenes I can point you to come to mind atm. It's been a while since I last watched early seasons of CSI..
So again, could be me projecting my little heart out ;-)
