As I type, [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar is staging an intervention against the partnership of transgendered mouse slash that is mouse!Shep and mouse!Ronon. We are putting them in separate cages in order to starve them of mousey attention and make them give up the gay and turn to Jesus miss Lizzie and Teyla LOVE US.

We are putting a grocery store Jesus candle near the cages, though, just in case that'll help. If this isn't responsible pet ownership, I don't know what is.

In other responsible pet ownership news, I am acquiring RATS tomorrow! It's an adoption off of craigslist. Two boys, just a few months old, one with long hair and one with long curly hair, two varieties of rat that I didn't even know existed. Name suggestions welcome. The current front-runner is "Miles & Julian" (in the future, we may acquire girl rats from a cool breeder near us, and they will be named Keiko and Choose-Your-Own-Dax).

No, we're not considering becoming rodent breeders in the future. Not at all. Er. Oh, shut up, you KNOW you want adorable pet rats bred and socialized by Trekkies. They'd sit up on their hind paws whenever you said "Engage."

In job search news, I have answered an ad searching for a "borderline OCD Girl Friday." The only thing that could make it a more obvious job for me is if they said something like "working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Star Trek required." Not only that, but it's a construction company, which yields a high probability of shirtless men wandering in and out of the office. Either way, it beats [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar and [livejournal.com profile] mystic_isles000's suggestion that I get a landline for Fort Awesome and become a phone sex operator. "You can work from home! It'll be perfect! You can just put a sign on the door so we know not to bug you while you're working!" IT HURTS ME.

Headline: Lizzie!mouse died very unexpectedly last night.

She was totally the bestest mouse ever because she preferred being on a person to not being on a person (especially meeeee, but that's just because she lived in my bedroom). She would hang out on me for hours while I lay on the floor reading and wouldn't run away, and would run up this bird-ladder I bought her to hang out by the opening of her cage and beg to be taken out. She would also fall asleep on my keyboard whenever I was LJ-ing, because the keyboard is warm.

This is, of course, all because she had been in quarrantine away from the other mice (who we thought were the sick ones, wtf) for a month, and so was more socialized with humans than with mice. I selfishly want to keep all my pets that way in the future so that they will LOVE ME.

(For those who will wonder, John!mouse really could not have cared less. It was kind of sad. He's totally having a transgendered gay mouse relationship with Ronon now in their double-decker Penthouse Of Love. [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar and I are considering taking their names away and renaming them Lois & Clark.)

I still really miss my dog, and feel guilty that every time one of the mice dies, she's totally what I think of.

In other news, I think I need a mental health filter and/or a boot to the head. This shit's getting to feel like too much to deal with by myself, but I've gotten all skeered of posting again.

[livejournal.com profile] nenya_kanadka asked me to do this one, and it led to some interesting and revealing family conversations.

"Parents, what are my quirks?"
Dad: "Your toes are always curled up."
Me: "What? Really?"

So, Six Quirks Of Mine: )

While typing this, mouse!Lizzie has been crawling around on my hands. She is too light to press the keys on the keyboard unless she really tried, but can activate the trackpad. Then she curled up in my collar and went to sleep. AWWW.

Edit: Oh, crap. I'm supposed to tag six people, aren't I? Well, er... [livejournal.com profile] meg_tdj never passes up a good meme, neither does [livejournal.com profile] roothekittycat, and, er... [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz, [livejournal.com profile] rosewildeirish (if she's feeling up to it), [livejournal.com profile] mspooh and OF COURSE [livejournal.com profile] qwirky, who does not actually have to do it, but has to be mentioned for a meme that stole her name and misspelled it.

A grand total of 41 hours after my flight was *supposed* to leave the East Coast, I FINALLY made it back to Oregon! A flight cancelled without explanation, massive amounts of weather delays through Chicago and randomly rerouted trains (and a lying train operator!) were to blame. The flights themselves were really quite awful, too, because the weather tossed everyone all over the place the whole time and both flights sat on the ground completely full of cranky people for a few hours before taking off, but all things considered, I actually had a decent time of it. Random people even made fun of me for being cheerful, like my not throwing a hissy fit is somehow damaging their day, but whatever. When I'm on celexa + dramamine, nothing can bother me. Ahhh, drugs.

And then I got home to find out that my beloved TEYLA MOUSE had DIED! I was too tired to really take it in last night, but now I am sad. [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar made a post about it, for those of you following the adventures of the 'lantis mice. :(

Now I am on East Coast time and [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar is on West Coast time like, Polynesian time, and still sleeping in the living room due to Great Family Drama Regarding Shipping Matresses Across The Country, so I suppose I will do quiet things from my to-do list and read more flist. Yay!

And now that I am only a few days away from Real Live Lantis Eps in the US, now I am feeling the desire to inhale all the ones that I missed. Go figure. *curses stupid mismatched airing dates!*

Okay, being awake still at 5:30 am while taking sleeping pills? Is not fair.

(I also object to the odd connection between a fatigue disorder, wtf and insomnia on the whole, but, well, you know.)

Clearly, there is only one thing for it! Bitching about it on the internet!

Instead of the usual Dramatic Desperate Flailing that accompanies Latenight Insomnia With Little Red, I will give a reader's digest update of recent events:

1) I have been totally ignoring you! apologies! )

2) We are moved in to Fort Awesome! We have furniture and a Christmas tree and it is really, really nice.

3) mouse!Lizzie is pregnant. [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar fears that mouse!John is pregnant as well, which makes our house THE WORST BADFIC EVER (contains multiple-births and mpreg and characters being turned into cute fuzzy animals!).

4) At this point, I am kind of skipping Christmas. It really DOES make the Baby Jesus cry! )

5) In typical [insert-city-here]-House-Of-Couch fashion, my DVDs are brainwashing my roommates. Sheryl is inhaling Babylon 5 )

6:15 am! I will now put off wishing for death by cleaning my room.

Okay, actually, that's the only one I can remember right now. What prompted it was the fact that we purchased for GEORGE FOREMAN KNOCKOUT SURFACE CLEANER for, like, 70 cents at Big!Lots. I have been getting my 70 cents' worth by scrubbing down Fort Awesome in a manner that's not at all compulsive, either (OH SHUT UP, it is totally normal to wash light bulbs). My OTP with George Foreman is totally on the rocks, though, because I actually don't much like this cleaner and am totally cheating on it with the No Brand Windex. Fortunately, I've worked through half the bottle already, and then I can move on to Sachi/Other Cleaning Product OTP.

[Poll #631795]

In other Totally Not Compulsive News, my vacuum cleaner has an attachment which is meant to VACUUM THE WALLS, which I then gleeefully did at Sheryl's encouragement. Then I started to worry about myself when I started vacuuming the freezer.

The source of all this totally normal cleaning gleee? WE HAVE FORT AWESOME!! We have signed a lease and gotten keys and everything! IT IS A HOUSE! So much joy. We set up the TV first, of course, and watched Anastasia and lots of Lois & Clark. We would like Clark Kents for Christmas, kthanx.

[livejournal.com profile] keenween and [livejournal.com profile] jupiterempath called mid-cleaning-spree(e) to ask us the following Very Important Star Trek Question:

[Poll #631796]

Oh! Oh! And in case any of you still thought there was hope for our sanities, we, er, might have gotten more mice. And by "might" I mean "totally did."

regarding Sparky Mice: The Growing XTREME Atlantis Colony )

We still haven't seen new episodes of 'lantis. It is killing me slowly and painfully, but I will continue to drown my sorrows by cleaning with my good buddy GEORGE FOREMAN.

Sheryl and I have, er, bought mice.

But wait! They were really really cute! And running on a wheel together! And weren't, er, a conure that was very expensive that Sachi also wanted to buy!

And... we might have named them Shep and Lizzie.

(They are both girls, actually, to reduce the possibility of this becoming a bad!fic where Lizzie has 18 children. We decided that symbolically emasculating Shep was actually probably less weird than symbolically making them mice.)

Shep is white, and enjoys exploring in the clear plastic ball we might have named the puddle-jumper, running on the outside of the wheel, and stepping on Lizzie's head.

Lizzie mostly enjoys squeaking at him.

They live in a brightly colored monstrosity that we can add on to later with things like balconies and XTREME wheels (which is a mouse wheel with the lights off and a DJ, for you Kappa-inclined types, and a spherical mouse wheel for the rest of you people).

Photos later!
