on TV:

Enterprise: SHRAAAAAAAAAAN!!!! *happy flailing* I LOVED this. This was so much fun. But seriously, what was going on with the camera? Who directed this?? I feel like someone spent money on a new camera lens and were all "OOOO. Let's try THIS!" It had a very different feel too it. ... which, may have been a good thing, because the episode kicked ass and Hoshi, Travis and Reed all got LINES.

The ultimate geek test: How many Trekkies out there spent the whole episode going "OMG, don't let them see the Romulan's faces, don't let them see their faces, don't let them..."

Atlantis: "The Defiant One" is such a gratuitous episode. I am totally its target audience. I will watch Sheppard run around and be pretty ALL DAY. I would watch it *again* if I didn't need to sleep.

Battlestar Galactica: This brief thought is *exceptionally* brief because I haven't actually watched the whole episode yet. But seriously. What the frak is up with this show? I was all "YAY! A moment of NOT TOTAL ANGST!" and then a freaking missile blows everyone up. It was a JOY-SEEKING MISSILE. "OH NO!! You people are not being sufficiently ANGSTY for twenty-five seconds therefore you must BE DESTROYED!" ONLY on Battlestar Galactica. I just... collapsed laughing and could not stop. (And if I was on the show, that probably would have meant MY IMMINENT DEATH.) It takes it self so seriously, too. However, it's still very, very pretty, and I look forward to watching the rest of it tomorrow, for must sleep now.

In life:

In other news I haven't quite gotten around to reporting, I'm doing Dramatic Life Attitude Change-y things, with like Goals and Schedules and Accountability and things like that. Also, with a sticker-based reward system and schedules drawn in Crayola and Mr. Sketch, so it is truly the kindergarten approach to maturity. But. Yeah. This prolonged sickness thing has rendered me totally financially dependent on my parents and kinda weird in the head. I need to find a way to maintain as reliable a health as possible (I have a whole other post on "OMG! I figured out what the hell is wrong with me! ... I think", but, bedtime)... while becoming an ADULT AGAIN. So it's all about coping with the future and figuring out how to do that with a condition that probably isn't ever going to totally go away.

I really will detail what's going on more at some point, more for me than for anyone else, but at this point... the part that applies to y'all is that I may be a little slower at replying to posts and emails, and am mostly getting offline to sleep at 10 so all chattiness must happen before that (and I'm learning this week that 10 hours of sleep *really* isn't enough, arg... so... that may become earlier, gah). W00t. Don't feel unloved! Just feel... less loved? Anyway.

However, less attention may oddly result in more fic, because learning and practicing "production writing" ski11z is part of my plan, as 'tis useful for future possible careerness as a trashy romance novelist. And, shock of all shocks, my mother was all "No, you should *totally* practice these skills with fanfic, because you have a built-in audience and support and editors and stuff." Rock on, Mumsey.

And my practice novel? "Second Chances." I'm actually not kidding this time. :) (The inspiration to use this and to add the creativity side into my Life Plan did come in some part for being nominated for the Isis Awards and forgetting to veto the Second Chances nomination in time because of the INSANE GUILT at not having finished it... so yay!! Thank you whoever-it-was for that, as it was timely and cool!)

Today I FINISHED THE EVIL SCENE that completely stalled the forward progress of this novel beast for a YEAR. *celebrates INSANELY* That is so a freaking gleee list in and of itself. I'm writing it again! YAY!!

As it stands now, I've also got time scheduled for smaller fics, still with an eye to honing my wishy-washy inspiration writerness into production I-can-actually-finish-things-and-can-stop-saying-I-SUCK writerness, so watch this space. :) Heh. Maybe I'll start working through those ten thousand fics that are 3/4 of the way through...

I swear my head about hit the ceiling. Manny is SOOOOOOOOOOO kicking my ass this season in the best possible way and I'm bouncing like mad.

YES!! Me too!! :)

Also snickering that it's *ALWAYS* Malcolm & Trip. I expected them to look at each other and go "NOT AGAIN?!"

Hee. Yes. Totally. Archer: "It's almost like you two WANT to get trapped off the ship in a near-death situation."

Trip: "Hey, I can't help it if we're just..."

Malcolm: "Gifted."

UPN just needs to find the Manny lurve and forget those seasons prior to 4 existed. :-p Cause WOOT!

I KNOW!! I hope Trekkies who wandered off in earlier seasons are giving it the proper love now... *hopes*

Manny so knows his stuff and he is *so* pushing every button in my die hard Trekky heart.

I know!! Suddenly this show is God's Gift To Trekkies Who Have Been Paying Attention. *LOVES IT*

I will indeed watch the rest of BSG -- it looked to be very good. It was more looking at the series so far as a *whole* that made me fear the angst. Just, can you imagine what the atmosphere is like on that set? "What's this next scene about?" "Uh. Tonnes of people die. We are all very sad about it." "Oh. Okay. I can do that."

And GLEE SEEKING MISSILES. OMG. *is blown up*

OMG SO PRETTY.

OMG. YES. My God, that man is attractive. Preeeetty episode.

Coto KNOWS better. He follows canon better than Berman ever has. He's "old school" Trek, which is why we'll see more of this.

I will watch Sheppard run around and be pretty ALL DAY.

Coto has been a great asset to ENT and I think he's been very wise in visiting (re-visiting) the characters we saw and loved from the original series. It's rare that I say that about any producer of a show. I just hope he gets the chance at another season for more of the same. While some of the scripts lately haven't been as strong as I've liked (or thought they would be), what I've read coming up seems good stuff and exciting.

*dies* *raises hand* I had an uncontrollable coughing fit when the Romulans came onscreen. Ahem. But, at least Bulgyface was playing the head bad Romulan guy! (You watch XF, right? He was the alien shapeshifter guy yay! He was also on Buffy. */random*)

That episode rocked though. I just love Andorians. *squees to death over the antennae*

From: [identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com
After there was that Romulan guy at the end of the Vulcan trilogy, I actually had the conversation with someone... I forget who, but I think it might've been someone in my family... about how it's okay if *we* see the Romulans, so long as *they* don't see the Romulans! Or, maybe, as long as T'Pol's the only one who sees them, since she's not human and might report it or... something. I suspect the high command at least knows the deal with the Romulans at that point.

And YES! about the shapeshifter alien guy! I kept yelling "STAB HIM IN THE BACK OF THE NECK!" :)

I looooove the Andorians, and am very jealous of their poseable antennae. And Shran/Weyoun/Brunt/etc... I love him. He is so great.

I totally agree with what you said about BSG. I was watching it with a BSG virgin and had him all prepped and shit and he was like "umm...why is this show being lighthearted if it's all about doom and gloom....oh"

so, with a sticker-based reward system and schedules drawn in Crayola and Mr. Sketch, so it is truly the kindergarten approach to maturity.
This is why my love for you is COMPLETELY PURE.

Getting less and less online and more IN REAL LIFE is something on my future goals, so all the power to you. Means I'll call you more often. *coughs* MY LOVE!

"No, you should *totally* practice these skills with fanfic, because you have a built-in audience and support and editors and stuff."

It was a JOY-SEEKING MISSILE.

HEE! Oh wait, was I not supposed to laugh at that scene? Sorry BSG writers and producers. Had I not been going "Oh...this has *got* to end badly" throughout the whole pilots singing and being happy scene, I may have been surprised. Note to remaining pilots on BSG: If you're in a scene without any of the principal characters around (namely Apollo, Starbuck and Boomer), you can pretty much kiss your ass goodbye.

I won't go into too much detail if you haven't seen the rest of the ep, but you won't be disappointed with the rest of it. There's plenty of angst, past and present, to re-instill your belief in the total black pit of depression that is BSG.

But I will admit that I'm not somewhat hooked on BSG, which has now earned a "Keep Until I Delete" rating on my TiVO.

Oh, and have you noticed that only Helo and Boomer back on Caprica are allowed to have happy moments? That scares me.

*is sad because he has failed in being able to catch recent episodes of Enterprise and now lacks the ability to obtain them illegally even just for the purposes of catching himself up in the series*

Do you have them taped? Because if you do, I would love to take an afternoon/evening to watch the ones I miss sometime if we can match our respective schedules on some weekend or break of mine.

On a different note, what is your opinion of Farscape (if you've seen it)? I'll be getting the chance to watch a lot of the episodes in the near future and I'm wondering if this is a series I should pay attention to or if there are better things I could spend my time on.. like Atlantis (which I have seen a little bit of, but was thouroughly entrigued by).

Date: 2005-01-30 08:13 pm (UTC)

I do indeed have them taped! I... think all of them. Yes. I think so. :) And you are more than welcome to come over and have Enterprise marathon-y goodness... if that fails, I can try to copy them for you onto another tape, but the quality may end up kinda shoddy.

I have only ever seen the pilot of Farscape. I hear it is THE BEST SCI-FI SHOW EVARRRRR, but can't speak to that personally :)

Atlantis, on the other hand, is just really fun TV. :) Totally enjoyable action-adventure series. Things blow up, pretty people run around doing things, there's occasionally the need for shrieking or squeeeing... 'tis awesome.

Enterprise: I know, Shran rocks! and I spent the whole first commercial break clapping at the TV going, "OMG, Hoshi got LINES!" And then spent the rest of the episode going, "nooo, they can't show the Romulans!" (and then hit the ceiling at the end when they revealed the Romulan location!)

The other two were also really cool and made me happy...though you missed SG1, which had the awesome line to Daniel along the lines of, "I kept you because I find you attractive" or something. I nearly died laughing

And yay for you getting a crayola-drawn plan!
