So very much gleee!

5 good things about today:

1. MUMSEY CAME HOME!!! Christmas is back on!! YAY!

2. Girls' Night at [livejournal.com profile] mystic_isles000' house where we exchanged Christmas giftness. Gira's mom got me EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED but had no idea how to ask for -- it's a quilting-cutter-board thing with a rotary cutter, a board and a fancy ruler... eeee! She wants me to learn to quilt badly, and I'm all hooked up now! And Kirtana will teach me how! Must rearrange bedroom to create craft space...

There was also a HILARIOUS moment where I did a dramatic reading of fuckthesouth.com at Kirtana's urging (perhaps obviously not a link to be followed by the conservatively inclined or easily offended), and got to see Gira's mom just about die of laugh.

3. People seem to think my recent fics are cool and have sent me lots of comment-y squeee. *bounces happily*

4. Wonderful fanficlet of gleee! It is a meeting of linguistic geekiness and Stargate: Atlantis, and it is here: Semantics.

5. SAW "HOT ZONE" OMFG. I say no more because I'm too lazy to go back and write "spoilerz omg!", but, um, YAY! Everyone on that series is very, very pretty. That's not a spoiler. That's a fact. My muse is also a-twitter, as it were, about post-eps and stuff... I had an idea for a smutty post-ep to "Underground" and have been half-living in an alternate universe ever since (pants!verse: Atlantis?). It's making my viewing experience extra-fun.

3 things I did well:

1. Sealed and stamped so. many. Christmas. cards. :)

2. Started process of burning CDs / Atlantis eps that I owe people.

3. Took on a last-minute [livejournal.com profile] miniotp Christmas fic exchange fic :) This is also gleee because I totally flaked out on signing up in time but really wanted to write something... yay! Since I don't have much time and it *does* fit into the qualification, I may finish an existing WiP instead of starting a new thing... I'm not sure if the recipient has seen this fic before, but, um, I have an excuse!! That is also gleee.

And a really excellent link -- [livejournal.com profile] fabu wrote a great, clear, bullet-pointed thing about fanfic critique. It's well-written and smart and... man, I love it when ideas get expressed clearly, and when I therefore feel no longer required to express them myself :) Read!! (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] medie for pointing me at it)

HAHAHAHA! She DOES owe him a handgun! *amused*

Sam: "But... sir, we get these for free from the Air Force."

Daniel: "So what you're saying is that he bought you for a handgun he didn't even have to pay for himself?"

Jack: "I did have to walk to the armory and get it."

Daniel: "Oh, true."

Sam: "I hate you all."

Hee!

I am being friended! Yay!! I must really go on a reciprocal friending spree, because some of my extreme Stargate geekiness is classified filtered to save me from frequent Interventions spare my real-life friends and relations, and I can't leave interested parties out of such fabulous comment-debates as "Why Lizzie Is Not Married OMFG!" and other stories ;)

*fawns you in return for pretty icony squeee*

*snickers at you hard*

I really dig your glee -- might have to steal it. (the format, that is -- won't steal your actual glee!)

I feel like a bit of a dork... but really, I'm all "I don't need presents... Christmas isn't Christmas without crowding around the piano and singing carols..."

Heh. I've been broke for most of my adult life; therefore, presents are out. It's being with the family I enjoy, so I understand completely.

I have done homemade stuff. I etch glass and do jewelry.

Yaaay! Quilting is fun. Except at times when it's finicky and the seams don't do what I want. But crafts! Yes! You need to do more of the fiber arts!

I've been told for years that I need to take up quilting by these two women... finally they just up and bought me quilting toys so I have no excuse! Yay!! It will be very different than knitting, though... I love knitting because it's so good to do without having to look all that often -- while watching TV or reading or listening to things... so I'll have to adjust my crafty-frame-of-mind. But it's something I very much want to learn.

Dude! Quilting rocks! My mommy made me - hey alliteration! - a fantastical, amazing one when I went away to university.

*cuddles quilt*

Shall drool and fangirl properly when I get to see some results!

I got a quilt when I went to university, too!! Except it's not a cuddle-able quilt -- it's very much an oooh-pretty wall quilt. There's an awesome tradition in my community of a bunch of the women making quilt squares for a quilt for a new baby... I never got one as a baby, so they made mine when I went away to school :)

Aww, I miss it now. It's in a box because it really isn't a bed-quilt (it has fragile things on some of the squares)... but hrm. I should hang it up. Or declare it a bed-quilt and fold it up every night? Hmm.
