IM POR TANT!

(And by IMPORTANT I mean, totally not as important as conserving your mobile phone battery if you're in the path of Sandy, so totally disregard. But everyone else!)

Final two!!

Look, you guys, I realize the Avengers is theeeee thing right now*, but REMEMBER. REMEMBER THE FOREHEAD-KISSING. REMEMBER THE TIME SHE GOT KIDNAPPED AND THEY HUGGED. REMEMBER THE TIMES SHE MOCKED HIM WITH JUST HER EYEBROWS. REMEMBER HOW YOU GOT A LITTLE PISSED EVERY TIME YOU SAW A BEE JUST FLYING AROUND MINDING ITS OWN BUSINESS.

REMEMBER WHY WE CALL IT 'SHIPPING!

So go click in the [livejournal.com profile] het_reccers ultimate het pairing showdown FINALE!

*To put this in context, I would have voted for Mulder & Scully over Sheppard & Weir, and even during [livejournal.com profile] sparktober, because it is The Right And Just Thing To Do.

But srsly, don't be the person making up fake LJ accounts to vote twice, because apparently that's happening, and guys, if there's nothing else this election cycle has taught us, it's that nobody ever wants to hear about voter fraud again.

Good LORD, how did Clint/Natasha make it all the way to the finals???

They've only been around (mainstream) for about a year. I hate how new trendy ships try to dominate (and probably manipulate) their popularity over awesome established ships that have stood the test of time!

Maybe I'm just biased...? But still. Bitch please.

Yeah, it seems like the New Hotness. Maybe it's been around before in comic books? But from the outside, I'm surprised just because it doesn't seem like it's permeated culture as much. If it were Superman/Lois Lane or something it would be a tough call.

*waves tiny C/N flag*

I expect Mulder/Scully to win, because it's been around since forever and I doubt the numbers of my tiny, but awesome yacht can compare to Mothership. But.

Clint/Natasha have a small number of screentime minutes in the movie and precisely one scene together. Just one. But it's a gorgeous, powerful and freakin' awesome scene and it happened to inspire a lot of people. I'm over the moon for the fact that we've made it this far!

Having taht said, sock puppets aren't cool. *sideeyes tumblr*

Eeeep! HI THAR! *waves the flag* Where I live it's really tricky to get those comics, so I got to know these two through the movies and now they absolutely own me. But what's really awesome? All the people over at [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised, who are really really fantastic (and I think that's one of the major reasons why the ship became so popular in really short time). Really incredible group of fans - the best one I've seen. :)

Were they a canon pairing in comic fandom? That would totally make them not the new-kids!

As far as I know they've been on and off in comics, but what really gave them popularity boost is the movie.

Haha, that's cool! :) I'm totally glad it's the new hotness, and it's not like I will rage against the injustice if it wins - I'm just being silly. I mean, if it's really the most popular 'ship in that comm, it SHOULD win! That's what the poll is for - not really "Hey in the history of the world, what ship should be nearest and dearest to your heart?"

And yeah, I kind of wrote that to explain it to myself, because I was about to be like "BUT NORMAL PEOPLE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM!" and then I'm like, well, it's not really a poll for normal people, it's a poll for that community. :) Godspeed, C/N nation! :)

All I know I haven't been this fannishly happy or inspired to create in ages, and the people are wonderful and amazing. :) Doubt that we'll win, tho!

Shipping? isn't for "normal" people. But then "normal" people don't have any idea what they're missing. :)

I would say *fandom* isn't for normal people, and maybe that's what you mean. I think most people who watch TV shows that have any kind of overt romantic overtones probably have feelings about whether they want two characters to get together or not. Right? That's what my experience of being in an office with a water cooler tells me. :)

Mind you - I suspect it ends there for most people. They ask, "Do you think X and Y are hitting it?" or "Do you think A and B are going to get together?" and they're expecting an "Ooh! That could be cool!" and instead they get me flailing for like fifteen minutes while they try to find the nearest exit. They probably also don't dig around for characters that could possibly be into each other if you squint in the right lighting. So yeah, I guess it's the difference between "watching a show and hoping two characters get together" and "obsessing and getting really emotionally invested in whether two characters will get together even if they've never actually been on-screen together and IF THEY WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL, IT WOULD BE LIKE THIS." :)

(FYI - Dancing With the Stars did a high school themed group dance last week - cheerleaders and football players - and I'm now really, really, really trying not to write a high school AU but I really want to.)

LOL, who is Winter Soldier. I DO NOT KNOW WHO THAT IS. (C/N fandom has this wonderful ability to adopt only the parts of canon we like; and movie!canon and comic!canon are commonly treated like two separate things.) I think they had me at catwalk fight, but even before that through entire movie I love how Natasha kept him present in our minds while he was off screen. *siny eyes* And the scene when he wakes up, and the scene when she rides the saucer and he is all like "Nat what are you doing??!" all worried, and THE SHAWARMA SCENE OMG OMG OMG.

Scully and Mulder, who are these people you're talking of?

:P

( ... shhhh dude, *I know*, I just choose to ignore him very thoroughly. And I hope Marvel opts out of the shacking up part of the canon. They better not ruin Clint/Natasha awesomeness from Avengers. I could probably deal with it if it was in past and over, and hopefully they won't turn her into Bucky's love interest, I'd hate that. Even tho I liked him in Captain America he's not cool enough for her.)

Ah we agree after all! *fist pump* I can live with that kind of scenario as well! Like, both of them angsting, then a big fighting scene, then one is presumed dead? But isn't of course. Hug and kiss, and I'll be happy.

What, I don't ask for much! *G*

Oh, Sparky has taken up so much more of my brainspace and they are my forever OTP, really. Mulder and Scully are terrible for each other - I mean, they end up abducted and ruin their careers and we're not even going to TALK about the baby - but they can't exist without each other and have epic love and they are the industry standard for UST and the whole show was ABOUT THEM. And for me, that show took me from a "I swear I can stay up and watch it!" tween all the way into college and provided so much fic and fandom and ficwriting and baby's first 'ship wars and whatever, so... I forever love them, especially in the Friday-nights seasons when it was underbudget but totally earnest and awwww FOREVER LOVE. FOREVER. <3
