NaNo is open!

I have a secret plan this time, and that plan is to not tell anyone about my exciting novel until I write it so that I will have to write it REALLY FAST!

I picked a title, though, and before I stuck that into the NaNo Novel Starter Screen I googled it, like you do, and apparently Aldous Huxley already wrote my novel. APPARENTLY I WAS NOT SECRET ENOUGH.

That book sounds pretty wack from the description, too. Why didn't I think of propaganda parrots? Probably because I didn't think of my utopic colony novel WHILE ON MESCALINE.

Thoughts:

1. I totally want to read that novel. I probably shouldn't yet because I've plagiarized it enough already with my mind.
2. Propaganda Parrot needs to be a band name like ASAP.
3. I'm going to need a new title.

I'm mylittleredgirl, of course. See you in November!

(Until then: [livejournal.com profile] sparktober! There's a picspam post up now! Gogogo!)

:-D <3 <3 <3

I should just pick a title off a random word generator and then spend 50,000 words justifying how the title relates to anything.

YAY. Go you!

I...think this year I won't attempt NaNo. I keep not doing it. So. This year I won't sign up. Maybe more will get written that way? IDEK.

Sounds good! :) I think it will be good for me because it will force me to write crap. I struggle a lot with first drafts, and with writing in general when I'm not inspired, but I want to learn to work with that.

Mary's doing it, I'll have her look you up when she gets signed up!

And that Huxley novel is maybe crazier than you think it is... I think I borrowed it from the Hall library when I read it, maybe even while we lived in the PHoC!

Oh wow! That would make total sense if you told me about it while we were at the PHoC because basically everything from that year feels like a fever dream!

And YAY! Mary!!! :) I am mylittleredgirl, of course. (edit: I totally said that in the original post. Oops.)

Is it cheating if you use NaNo to continue the novel you started last year and haven't finished?

Not that it will stop me.

Yes. We're Supposed To start something new at word 1 and work to word 50,000. When I was going to continue my Mars novel, my plan was to arbitrarily break the story into separate books and pretend I was writing the sequel.

I think their rationale was sort of legit - if we've already put a bunch of work into something, we're more attached to it and will get frustrated with speedwriting crap. However, I say you should do what you want and just feel extra subversive.
