One of Kes's earliest memories is learning to plant flowers with her dad. He would tell her that he couldn't do it without her because his fingers were too big to make tiny holes in the soil for the seeds. They would sing a rhyme together while they worked so she would remember all the steps (poking the hole, planting the seed, covering it with dirt, spraying with water - it rhymes in Ocampan). She thinks of the rhyme in her dad's voice every time she plants seeds in the aeroponic gardens on Voyager and it makes her happy.

Later on, she will teach this rhyme to her children. Wex will be very concerned that there isn't actual soil in the aeroponic gardens so they are violating some kind of seed-planting code. Lisen will forget to plant entirely because she's singing and doing an interpretive dance of the plants growing that requires her to run all around the bay at top speed. Tuvok Jr. likes gardening the best out of all of them and sometimes the two of them spend hours together tending the plants and making up new songs that don't always rhyme. :)

Harry Kim!! I'm just going to do this whole meme in silly happy fanon mode, because I totally pretend that Tal joined Voyager and Kim gets lots of glowy sex on a regular basis because he deserves that! And obviously those are happy moments, but I'm going to tell you about how she asks him to teach her about Earth music, and how he really likes playing the clarinet for her, because she always tells him it's the most beautiful thing she's ever heard. And he doesn't know if it's true, but he believes her, because he thinks she really means that she loves him. :)

OH GOD Talia is like the most tragic of characters. GIRL DESERVES HAPPY!

OKAY.

So one time, when she's in the Academy and she's dating Jason Ironheart, they spend six hours in the middle of the day together in bed. There's sun streaming in from the window and they do nothing but share thoughts and love and he feeds her grapes at one point and she really loves the peace inside his mind where nothing hurts and she is really, really happy for the entire day.

EEE. This is my ENDLESS HAPPY FANON meme.

See, emotions are tricky with T'Pol, even happiness! Because any time she experiences emotion it throws her off-balance a little bit and reminds her of the ~zomg chaos~ of the expanse and space crack and what-have-you. But she ends up being surprised how much she likes being around other people, particularly her family, when they're happy. For instance, even in the future, kids have to make volcanoes for science fairs, and Trip and the adorable little daughter they totally have spend hours building one out of future-paper-mache. T'Pol watches them test it for the first time, and it's a simple chemical reaction, but the pure delighted surprise on her little girl's face and Trip laughing and looking on all proudly makes T'Pol feel really deeply content, and she holds on to that memory as one of her favorites for the rest of her life. :)

I don't know why I thought of this, but I'm imagining little Elizabeth, on her sixth birthday, going to pick out her first puppy. :) There's a whole litter of puppies - golden retriever mixes - and they all pounce on her and want her attention and lick her hands and face, and she picks out the one who follows her the best when she runs around with him. She was originally planning to get a girl puppy and name her Sparklepony Rainbow Weir (she's six, remember?), but the puppy she falls in love with is a boy, and she decides that Roger is a much more distinguished name for a boy, but Rainbow is still his secret middle name.

The moment she passed the Starfleet Academy entrance exam after years of studying, and the test administrator shook her hand and said "Welcome to Starfleet," and B'Elanna saw a whole wonderful future in front of her. :)

That all ultimately went bad, but she actually has the same feeling when Janeway gives her a field commission and says, "I know we can count on you. You're going to be a great Chief Engineer," while Chakotay grins away behind her.

After a while (and after Megan and Kate hook up, of course) the Fleming-Hunt Family Dramz settle down and Lacey spends weekends at her mom's sometimes. Once, when Megan was up all night autopsying or whatever and goes to bed early, Lacey sits Kate down in front of the TV and gives her a comprehensive education in very serious tones about Glee and how it's the greatest show ever made and they end up staying up late giggling and eating ice cream sundaes and talking about which boy from Glee is the cutest. Megan comes in when they start making too much of a racket and asks what's going on, and Lacey says "nothing!" and Kate loves that Lacey has accepted her enough for them to share such a silly secret. :)

P.S. Cassie totally watched DWtS and ships your pairing. Daniel thinks its worrisome. Janet says it's just a phase. Late at night, she texts Teal'c and Jonas, because they all watch it. Teal'c doesn't tell anyone about Vala's epic plan to get herself on the cast of DWtS, though. He's too invested in seeing everyone's faces when they find out.

Cassie Fraiser's Best Day Ever is the second time Jack takes her to an amusement park (the first time was a little overwhelming with all the people and the rides and the people dressed up as giant cartoon characters, but she's been thinking about this return visit for a whole year and bugs him every single day after the park opens for the summer). Teal'c comes too, of course. She demands they all sit for caricature drawings (Teal'c is inexplicably riding a unicorn in his). Later, she and Teal'c gang up to beat Jack at the beanbag toss and she wins a stuffed animal - a bright neon tie-dye pattern crab (incidentally, she also learns what a crab is that day, and that they are not normally that color).

QUINN. OH QUINNY. She needs some happiness badly!!

You know, I'm sure it's a pretty predictable response, but it's totally what would make her happiest, so: Quinn's wedding day is perfect. She marries her college sweetheart, and they already own a little condo together, and her dress is the dress she has imagined for her entire life (and it doesn't hurt that she can say she has a unique design from Kurt Hummel, who's just breaking into the New York fashion scene but is already getting rave reviews). She invites some of her friends from high school - Mercedes is her maid of honor, actually. She strays from tradition a little bit and walks aisle alone (Kurt agrees with her decision, saying she shouldn't have anyone next to her to obstruct the view of her dress, and besides, her father doesn't deserve to be there). She doesn't regret this decision at all, because when she gets to the altar, her future husband lifts the veil from her face, he tells her she's the most beautiful woman in the world. :)

Settle! I've been distracted by drama unfolding in the DWTS universe! ;) And also, gah, MARCUS IS SO TRAGIC. It's really hard to come up with any unfettered happiness moments for B5 characters. JMS, Y U SO EVIL.

Okay, though. I'm going to say that that when Marcus and Susan were on the White Star looking for First Ones, there were moments when they got along. Like, really got along. Like, under-her-skin, he felt like she was really seeing him and talking to him and they were laughing a little, and she was stressed out but she appreciated him being there (even if she didn't say so out loud). It was a silly moment - talking about baseball, strangely, which neither of them care about but Sheridan and Garibaldi do - and he finished her sentence and she smiled at him. It was the first unreserved smile he got from her - no artificial distance, just real friendship - and he likes it so much he makes it his mission to see it as often as possible.

GOOD LORD WOMAN.

Okay... I can't bring myself to write CSM/Mulder's Mom fanfic and I actually don't remember enough about the Cassandra Spender arc to properly come up with something canon, so let's just go with: He's happy sometimes with Cassandra and leave it at that. There are times with her that he forgets who he is and where he's going. Not often. But sometimes. She's more than just an agenda. He thinks most people are stupid, uneducated, sheep blindly being distracted by movies and news that are equally fictitious, and she is certainly as gullible as the next, but there's something in her open wonder that can block out the truth for a while. When he comes to her home once (he never really thinks of it as his) and she has made dinner, when she's delighted that he likes it, when she tells him about her day and he gets swept up in her narrative he doesn't think about what's really out there, and that's as close as he ever gets to happiness.
