How Smart is Your LJ?

Google has unveiled a new toy in their Advanced Search section that lets you filter your search results by "reading level." What's the reading level of your LJ?

Go to Google's Advanced Search, change 'Reading level' to 'annotate results with reading level', enter your LJ or website address in 'Search within a site or domain' and click search. Screencap and post. (Obviously, this only captures unlocked posts.)

I don't know where my swank Ivy League education went, but clearly it did not go to my livejournal.


For the record, I am much less literate than the overall livejournal results:


If this new google toy isn't meme'd all over LJ by the end of the day, I'll be shocked.

I think there might be a setting in LJ about whether or not you want you blog to be indexed by search engines? It's in "Account Settings" or something. I of course want to be indexed by search engines because I'm a famewhore, but perhaps you made a different selection?

Hmmm. I got 100% intermediate. I am apparently as average as the day is long. On the other hand, it only returned 327 results, so I question its sample size.

I have no clue how they pull the sample or analyze the readability, so I just have to compare myself against livejournal.com on the whole to determine that I insufficiently smart. Or plain-spoken! YEAH! Keepin' it real with the down-home folk!

Yup! I was a wee Canadian once. :) I root for them in the Olympics.

You know, Sarah Palin's Alaska is WEIRD, and you kind of come away from it... liking her. Or tolerating her, at least. Not as a politician, but as a relateable and kind of dorky star of a family reality show, like you wouldn't hate her if you ran into her sometimes in the supermarket. I still don't want her anywhere near politics and could do without the political elements of the show (although I came in expecting that there would be lots of liberal-bashing, so I can kind of ignore that). Piper Palin is ridiculously adorable. They do kill an awful lot of animals on that show, so if her voice pushed you over the edge, you'd fit right in.

Also I apparently did not index my posts, thus get 0%, but my readability scores usually mean my fics can be understood by 10 year olds.

Yeah I recently wrote a stripper fic for someone, and it said third graders could read it. They might be able to, but I definitely wouldn't recommend they do so!
