*waves goodbye to Pawtucket House of Couch*

Well, *will* wave goodbye once all my stuff's in the car, but that requires unhooking my computer.

I have cleaned this apartment within an inch of its life, and it looks all shiny and new now. With the exception of maybe an hour late last night when I was all but I started this a week ago why the crap is it still not done!? Oh, because I have *mono* and because it takes me ass-long to do things, (shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] besydtammy for giving me motivational cookies, of a sort) I really enjoyed myself doing it, too. I don't think of myself as an exceptionally compulsive person, but there's something really satisfying about the process of deep-cleaning (less so with the ordinary spot-cleaning, but that too). In a weird way, it reminds me of distance swimming or highway driving -- it's a very solitary, methodical activity, and it's most enjoyable if you don't think beyond the next lap or venetian blind or recognizable landmark.

Worried this makes me a *total* nutball, I mentioned this to my parents. My mother was all: "OOOOH! I'm like that TOO!" and my dad was all "Oy. Another one." So, my insanity is a learned behaviour. Sweet :)

But yay. Pretty apartment. *pets Pawtucket House of Couch* And, security-deposit-ness, too, I hope :)

(also, [livejournal.com profile] keenween? Did you get my email about Cox? Er, I suppose if you don't have 'net access at all, since I still have your cable modem, you wouldn't have. I'll call you tomorrow unless you say otherwise...)

I was exactly that way when I started packing to move. I felt if I wasn't cleaning/packing/filling boxes, it would never get done. It became obsessive.

And your icon...whew. Sadly, I think I know the answer to that. :(

Now I am on to the obsessive *un*packing phase. Maybe I can hold onto a little of the obsession and keep my clothes off the floor? One can always hope.

And your icon...whew. Sadly, I think I know the answer to that. :(

[livejournal.com profile] fraiser_jackson made it, and the words are from an Over the Rhine (http://www.overtherhine.com) song that now totally makes me cry, dammit, and if you'd like to use it too I will ask her. EVIL STUPID SHOW. But, really, the fact that no one seems to notice or care anymore allows me to facilitate the belief that she's just off-screen a whole lot doing important doctory things (and also potentially doing Daniel when he is also offscreen. Just a thought). STILL. MUCH ANGER AND RAGE. *shakes fist at show*

[aside] I just checked your info page to see whether you would be obviously put out by me flailing my Dan/Jan-ness around and OMG you have Beverly Crusher as an interest!!! I am going to grow up to *be* her. That has been my plan since TNG first started. Despite my current SG-1 obsessionness, "Jack" still makes me think first of Jack Crusher. [/aside]

Definitely not a fan of Janet/Daniel or of Daniel's but that's okay. We can agree Teryl got screwed over and that's what's important.

Yup, been a big Beverly/Gates McFadden fan for a looooooooong time. :)

Well, I will try not to squeee too loudly in your general direction, then ;)

Dr. Crusher rocks the freaking universe. That's all. :)
