The blue hair is Not Going To Fly, but it's actually not my fault. Apparently it wouldn't have been a big deal as an admin (our other admin girl bleached her bangs and the front chunks of her otherwise-black hair).

However, the ish has hit the fan at work about our new coworker-with-a-Y-not-an-I (who, after throwing an unbelievable fit and yelling at me and another coworker on Friday, didn't show up to work for 3 days and then resigned, making up a whole bunch of stuff that we all apparently said and did to her).

Now, I've evidently getting a backhanded promoted -- I have to act as the third sales agent and come in on Saturdays, but I'll continue to be paid as an admin -- and apparently I need to look RESPECTABLE and get rid of the blue now that I'm in Sales And Not Just Admin (or, I assume, do a better job of disguising it).

Okay, so, let's pretend I bleached the streaks first and it's permanent (or long-term semi-permanent) dye, and they've already nixed the idea of dyeing my hair black to cover it all.

Suggestions? Is there a kind of pigment-removing product that won't make your hair fall out if used on top of bleach? Are women's hats/headwraps back in fashion such that one could wear them to work and not just to church? Can expensive salons do this if I throw money at them?? HELP PLEEZ.

Can't you dye it all a shade of red somewhat similar to what you already have? You might have to bleach the blue out again before you can do that, though. I'm sure a salon could fix it though.

Also, I don't see why you can't just dye it all black! Black is a natural hair color, just because certain people know it's not *your* natural color doesn't mean it's unacceptable. Sheesh!

It's possible they just meant "Oh, honey, it would look awful on you," rather than "IT'S A RULE." Although I am so ungodly pale I would probably be making an accidental goth statement, and I'm really more candy raver at heart than emo goth, so...

haha, well, that is a truth. You could go for maybe a brown then, which might be able to mask the blue without you having to bleach it first, and brown is less goth-like.

I am quite sure that a salon could do this for you. I'm not sure about anything else regarding dyeing, but I have great faith in a stylist's abilities to fix things like this.

Perhaps I will look up a good one on my surprise day off tomorrow. I'd love to go blonde, because when I bleached out my hair streaks they looked RAD, but I think it is maybe too much change all at once.

What's with coming in on Saturdays to do sales stuff but still being paid as an admin? I call bullshit!

TOTALLY.

They've also been asking me to cover other sites on my weekends without getting paid. They think I should just be grateful for the experience... and I am, I just chafe at feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

AND SCARED BECAUSE MY HAIR IS NOT WHAT I INTENDED, AIIEEE.

I second bullshit! You feel like you're being taken advantage of...because you ARE. And they'll keep on doing it until you call them out.

Can you parlay this hair thing into a raise? Tell them that if you need to go through all this effort to look like a sales agent, they need to pay you like one. Here's tons of advice on how to ask for a raise.

Thank you, sweetie... I actually already asked, because they'd offered it to me "once I got licensed" and then conveniently forgot. After talking to people didn't do anything, I sent in an email with some numbers and a detailing of how my job description has changed, I'm making more money for the company now, etc.

They said they'd talk about it when one of the bigwigs gets back from her trip to Italy, so there's still hope. I'm less "OMG NEED RAISE!" now than I was a few weeks ago, because Sister and I are now not planning to move immediately, but we'll see what happens after bigwig gets back.

I went brown once before... and it was so weird. More than any other color I've done, it's like I became a completely different person. No one remembered me! Or talked to me randomly at bus stops sharing their life stories! Or tried to pick me up all creepy even though I was only 13!

... actually, brown might not totally suck. Though I have a natural resistance to it since it was the first time I dyed my hair and it made my mother cry.

Good idea, miss Lemon! <3

Will your hair even dye to black? Mine won't hold dye worth a damn (I'm a redhead too). I agree with the folks who say go to a salon and see what they can do; do you really want to dye all of your hair and have to either keep dying it or deal with growing that out as well?

Haha, that's a good point. :)

Usually my hair refuses to bleach, so I was amazed that this worked at all.

Yep, salon it is. If they say they can't fix it, I'll live with it and pretend I did it on purpose.

Hey, I got to 25 without needing a salon fix to hair dye! That's something, isn't it?
