Fever Dreams FTW!

Last night I dreamed a crossover between Star Trek: Voyager and Baby Sitter's Little Sister.

Okay, possibly not quite that, but some crazy alien had a wacky holodeck-in-your-brain type technology and had programmed up a classroom and wiped B'Elanna's memory so she thought she was six and in a new school instead of KIDNAPPED BY ALIENZ, and because it was IN YOUR BRAIN holodeck technology the alien could change your appearance to look six, too, and Janeway and Chakotay had to find a way to hack into the program without being detected, and it was all in all kind of rad.

But disturbing, when you think about aliens kidnapping passing people and turning them into children. :-/ This dream was TOTALLY safe for all audiences, I SWEAR.

If I ever write this fanfic, I'm not telling anyone.

I am AWFUL at writing crack!fic! I always seem to write it too serious. So, liek, someone could turn into a seal, but they would have to deal with real complications of OMG BEING A SEAL instead of just "wheeee, seal!" I am jealous of those with crack!fic abilities. V. v. jealous!

I think Karen may actually have been in my dream, because there was a blonde girl with NEON BLUE GLASSES, but she didn't seem to be getting up to her usual shenanigans.

Explain me the symbolism behind your icon, pleez.

Serious is okay too, though! Honestly, I'd be interested to see what you could do with full-grown adults being made into children.

I think she and kid!B'Elanna would be very interesting together... But it's been so long since I read the books (or, for that matter, watched more than a few minutes of Voyager -- it's on at very inconvenient times) so I don't know if they'd be friends or not!

:D Gladly! So there we were at last year's Dragon*Con, at the Sunday Stargate panel. They started off with some "Tiger Beat" questions, including "What's your favorite color?" Cliff Simon started and said blue. A couple other people complained that he'd stolen their favorite, so they had to pick something else. When it got to Kavan Smith, he leaned close to the mic and said, "Dark blue." Everyone in the room just died.

There were quite a few quotable moments from that panel, actually...

meg_tdj wrote a story at one point about Janet Fraiser being turned into a child... she did that in a serious tone, so it's definitely possible to do! I'm kind of freaked out by the whole concept, really. Hrm. Though I absolutely positively loved the TNG episode where that happened, so, yah.

I think that B'Elanna was probably a holy terror when she was in first grade, dontcha think? I'm sure everyone teased her, and so she would throw half-Klingon tantrums and punch them a lot. ;) I'm sure Karen would learn a Very Important Lesson about how to get along with her, or something.

Well, we didn't really have those books over here *shock horror* I read The Saddle Club books, which I think were kinda similar, but with horses instead of babysitting. But now I feel deprived...hmmm, where can I find these Babysitter books, I wonder?

You didn't have the Babysitter's Club!?!??? OMG, THE HORROR. What about the Sweet Valley twins books?

I imagine you can get them used on Amazon for about 35 cents, if you feel truly deprived. "Baby sitter's little sister" was a series of books for even younger kids about the, well, little sister of one of the girls in the babysitter's club, who was kind of annoying, truth be told. I haven't read either one in for-ever.

We might've gotten the books, but way after they actually came out, so they kinda passed me by. We had Sweet Valley though - god, those books were good. I read quite a lot of those, and the ones when they went to university as well. We had the show as well, and that was just stunning. I think it was on on Saturday mornings, after Power Rangers - another classic.

OH, Sweet Valley! You know, I actually never even read the Sweet Valley High or SVU ones, because I got crazily into it at around age 6-8 and so was reading the middle school version of the books. My parents hated those books because I started acting like a total brat. ;)

I only saw a few minutes of the show -- hilarity!

I think I read the middle school ones as well, but after the Sweet Valley High ones, so they mainly just irritated me in those. Plus, I really couldn't work out why they went to so many different schools, and at such weird ages.

I've seen a couple of the people from it - the girl who played Jessica, and the guy who played Todd - in things since, and I just can't take them seriously.

TRUE! I thought about that after waking up, but that would make the rescuing a little harder, I think, because someone would have to go "okay, voluntarily turn me into a child to infiltrate the ev0l alien school!" (Naomi Wildman's first away mission!) Although that does seem like a hilarious conversation to have.
