For the love of ALL THAT IS HOLY, peoples.
I made it through work yesterday! Today I made it to my car, and that's it. All the excitement like standing around and talking yesterday buggered up the patches the dentist gave me, and now I think my stupid mouth is infected again, and for crying out loud. My coworker asked me yesterday if I felt angry at myself for not healing faster. I mean, no, there's nothing I can do about having Miraculously Non-Healing Soft Tissue, but I really hate that I'm not Tough Enough To Handle It. You know? Apparently, extreme pain makes me puke or pass out, and there doesn't seem to be much I can do about that, except lie in bed and feel like a really horrible person for basically not showing up at work for ALL OF FEBRUARY for a stupid outpatient surgery. I TOTALLY SUCK, GRRR.
Once I feel that it is Safe For Me To Drive, I will go to the dentist again and get repatched, and then slink into work for a few hours. I guess. *swears a lot*
And here is your Happy Thought Of The Day:
Star Trek: Enterprise. Is anyone else re-watching it on SciFi and finding it infinitely more fun this time around? Maybe it's that the stress of the show possibly being cancelled is gone, I don't know. Maybe it's because I haven't yet gotten to the episodes where Archer has dirty fantasies while his dog's in sickbay, or the one where T'Pol's in heat and nearly humps Reed's spacesuit, or that time she became a junkie and shot up into her neck. But seriously, I'm in love, that kind of blind, nostalgic love where I lose track of reason. I even listen to the theme song all the way through sometimes. And yesterday Captain Archer gave the much lamented Gazelle Speech and I actually went "Huh, that speech isn't nearly as ridiculously out of context as I remember it being."
And "Carbon Creek" is an extra supah adorable episode that I love, and it always makes me think of a wee baby T'Pol listening to stories and fantasizing about this crazeh planet called Earth.

Date: 2007-02-21 09:53 pm (UTC)You have my total and utter sympathy and awe. I do so hope someone comes along and lays Super Sekrit Healing Powered Hands on you SOON, because this much pain? Is unfair to Little Red. ::stamps::

Date: 2007-02-21 11:00 pm (UTC)As far as the Super Sekrit Healing Powered Hands, I'm starting to regret that I turned the Mormons down when they were all "We can bless you in the name of Jesus!" Because that may have been helpful.

Date: 2007-02-21 10:58 pm (UTC)You absolutely do NOT wish that you remembered that Gazelle. It's all:
Ambassador Soval: *tells Archer & crew that they are freaking morons for screwing up the galaxy*
Admiral Forrest: "Well, that was kind of harsh. But yah, you're kind of right. Sorry about all the screwing up of the galaxy."
Archer: "Once when I was twenty, I saw A GAZELLE BEING BORN. And it was A BEAUTIFUL MIRACLE OF NATURE, and therefore you should let us continue to go around breaking stuff!"
Soval: "... That makes absolutely no sense in this conversation."
T'Pol: "IT DOES TOO."

I hope you are feeling better soon.

But yes, 1 and 2 are so much less painful than 3. (S4 had its good bits. You gotta give Manny Coto props for that.)
But the gazelle speech and the aliens-collaborating-with-Nazis and all the time travel bs... gah.

Also, the Mirror eps are love too.
:D

Date: 2007-02-22 01:04 am (UTC)Whatever, I love S4 just because I fangirl T'Pol's mom like CRAZEH.
The mirror eps are awesome. I want a big mirror universe marathon set in chronological order. It would rawk.

Date: 2007-02-22 07:23 am (UTC)I was so madly in love with season 1 the first time around, too, but this is just way more exciting, because I'm so much less hard on it (all the angst has boiled off, I think). I love pre-space-crack T'Pol and I'm even really liking Archer this time around, and I really like their friendship and respect. Especially knowing that there's going to be all the delightful Love And Romance later on, it's kind of fun to still be in the ensemble portion of the series. Wheeee!

Date: 2007-02-22 01:41 am (UTC)And ... I still can't get into Enterprise. [is sad] I've tried to watch, but it's like the first time around. Just can't get through an entire ep. Maybe someday.

He can't quite tell if she's green or ashen, but the lighting in the basement has never been good. Her hand shakes a little as she brushes hair out of her eyes.
"Go home, Monica," he says softly. He's trying not to be pushy, overprotective. She's an adult and knows how to take care of herself, but he can't stand to see her in so much pain.
"M'fine, John," she mumbles. She keeps trying not to move her mouth when she talks. It hurts worse when she moves her mouth, apparently.
"Did you go back to the dentist?" he asks again. She rolls her eyes; she's seen more of her dentist in the past two weeks than anyone ever wants to see of a dentist. John keeps thinking that maybe next time the dentist will figure out how to fix her. Or that Monica needs a new dentist.
"She doesnknow why they're not healing. 'Ve got abnormal teeth."
"Maybe we should open an x-file for them," he jokes.
She giggles, then gasps and grimaces, and suddenly she's completely white. He's across the room in a couple of steps and catches her as she slides out of her chair. She had warned him that the pain was making her pass out, but he isn't ready for this, and he panics, trying to wake her without jostling her head, hurting her mouth. "Monica, Monica, wake up! Dammit, wake up!" He needs to get her to the hospital, and he can't reach the phone.
"I'm 'wake," she whispers as he starts to shift her off of his lap and onto the floor, and her hand reaches up to grip his. "This 's so stupid."
"You can't help being in pain," he reassures her. He's relaxing again after his panic. She's no worse than she's been for the past two weeks, but he hates it: hates that she's in pain and hates that he can't fix her. "Come on," he says, helping her sit slowly. "Let's get you home."

Okay, the VERY FIRST incarnation of the theme song wasn't bad. But then season 2 started and it changed and I remembered how after that it kept getting WORSE and WORSE. Until s4, it got kind of better. But I almost actually enjoy it sometimes. :O
Agreed on the Gazelle thing. He started, and I was like "OH NO IT'S THE GAZELLE SPEECH" and then it was over in two seconds and I could have sworn it was huger and more ridiculous, but I guess we all just blew it way out of proportion. IMAGINE THAT, fans blowing things out of proportion. *lol*
CARBON CREEK was like the best ep evah. Vulcan storytelling, yay!

Date: 2007-02-22 07:18 am (UTC)It's totally the first incarnation of the theme song! That one is definitely LESS bad. We thought it was HELL ON EARTH until they jazzed it up with bongos and whatever the hell in season 3, and then we were all "bring back the awful theme song, original version!"
The gazelle speech was so horrifying at the time, and now it's a drop in the bucket. :) I'm glad I'm not alone there!
I just love "Carbon Creek" and the Vulcan storytelling. Bwahahaha. And the scene with T'Pol and the handbag just GETS ME every time. I'll bet T'Pol's Totally Awesome Mother gave it to her before her Earth assignment... that, or she got it as a kid and has Treasured It ever since. :) *snuggles wee T'Pol*

Date: 2007-02-22 07:14 am (UTC)Actual useful advice:
1) Take the meds they tell you to, when they tell you to for the first 24 hours at least.
2) If the meds seem like they're Not Working, call the doctor rather than toughing it out.
And... go ask
GOOD LUCK!! *hugs*

Date: 2007-02-22 08:41 pm (UTC)Season 3 felt very hit-or-miss for me. I liked the big crazy arc, but there were also some of the most boringest episodes ever, so there you have it.

Date: 2007-03-05 05:07 am (UTC)I am transplanted here from Massachusetts and went to school in RI, so that's how I became a Sox fan. :) People in Oregon aren't really that into pro sports -- mostly college stuff... so I have no one to talk to about it except a yankees fan who works with me. OH THE HORROR AND IRONY. I'm excited to see how Papelbon does this year... I'm full of distress that Trot's not around anymore. He was totally my Red Sox boyfriend. :(
Enterprise is totally entertaining. I'm also loving the marathons on SciFi. You should check out the recaps on Television Without Pity -- they were pretty brilliant, and full of rage, as I recall.
