The internet was undecided on what I should do, so I asked my parents. Turns out they think I am Freaking Bonkers for having concocted a really big story about how they think I'm irresponsible and childish for wanting to go home for Christmas and that I don't deserve it and they think LESS OF MEEEE, etc. After enduring some mockery on the subject of being Freaking Bonkers, and some actually very logical discussion of how I will keep this from derailing my general forward progress in life and use it as a recharging vacation instead, I am now going home for, er, Boxing Day! YAYYYYYY!!

I fly there on Christmas Day and fly back on New Year's Day. I will miss Christmas Eve service in my home church, but I've looked up some local churches here or will ask [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar's mother if she plans to go to a candlelight service and if I can come along. (It's weird -- I don't feel like Christmas Eve service is at all about being Christian for me, because I'm not, really, it's just very much about tradition. I love the music, and the story, and the kids being dressed up and so very excited, and Christmas Eve is my favouritest day of the year.)

Now, here's the real question -- is it wrong to choose a church solely because it's on Weir Road, thus enabling [livejournal.com profile] w0lfstar and I to call it "the Weir church" whenever we refer to it?

I have New Year's Resolutions churning around in my head, too. That's always a fun thought. And I plan to do some sort of After Christmas Special meme at some point to selfishly excuse the fact that I never read anyone's wish list and extend the holiday gleee so that I can play along. Mwahahaha.

Season's Greetings! Happy Hanuchriswanzadan!

That I am bonkers? Yes, well, I must agree with them there, too.

I totally have to check out the Weir Church. Mwahahaha. I love that I will be able to justify religion through fandom. ;)

Well, someday we'll totally end up with an episode where Lizzie gets worshipped on some planet because of... er... something. And then there really will be a Weir Church!

But Ramadan and Chinese New Year happen at different times every year! Is Ramadan in December?

You know, I'm not sure. I think it was the year that the name was coined...

Hee! I didn't get to vote in the poll, but I'm so glad you got things worked out. *massive huggles* 'Cause I want you to be happy and such... *nods*

the Weir Church? hehe Go! :) I would. I giggle whenever they say "Shepherd" in music and it's not even spelled the same.

Merry EVERYTHING! (much easier than trying to spell out some massive amalgamation of names.)

Awwww!! I used to try and put off opening presents, or only open one and then run around and do something else, because the anticipation was the best part! :) I love Christmas Eve the best.

So, uh, New Year's day, eh? Shall I seek housing other than Fort Awesome, as you shall be toast, as that is the day I shall be showing up?

Oh no! I totally forgot!!! Err... well, I will be back in town by 7 pm, and Sheryl will be here the whole time. It might be better if you can stay with samy, because I don't know if Sheryl will have a bed yet and she has been sleeping on the couch. If you can't find another place, though, you are welcome here and we'll figure something out. I'm so sorry! I really need to unpack my calendar.

As long as said church doesn't totally suck (because, well, some of them do, either philosophically or in that "kumbaya on guitar in place of classical masses by an organ and choir" sort of way), why not?

I mean, I basically picked my church based on which Episcopal church within walking distance has the most walking back and forth with the incense thingy. (Ok, am being somewhat tongue in cheek, but only some.)

Yeah, I was raised a bit in the kumbaya-on-guitar school of worship, and I must say, the organ definitely rocks.

We all have our favorite parts of church. :) I'm less keen on the incense-swinging but am definitely all about the music. And the less fire and brimstone, the better.
