Where you are right that Sparky works BETTER is that John would keep snarking at her and tell her to buck up and be a big girl while also offering support and lavishing love on her whereas Rodney would be both callous at times and REALLY REALLY NERVOUS and afeared of rejection. So for the sake of our Lizzie, I vote for John officially and the two of them unofficially, I guess. :) Plus, I really like Rodney/Radek... A LOT.
You are right that it COULD be a Sparky fic with the names changed, but that would be a less alpha-like John. He's more Alpha than Rodney or how you depicted Rodney. John would bang at the door and shake her. Or angst and go sex Teyla. :is evil:
