Yeah, I do get the impression that it was more of a way to wrap up the episode and get him out of their hair (kind of like the ways they get rid of one-episode-stand girlfriends or aliens) than anything. Couldn't they...I don't know. If he remembers everything Jack does (does he?) couldn't he go work for somebody offworld or something, or just pretend to be one of those brilliant kids who's out of college by the time they're twenty? Weird.
