That does suck. But Christmas can be celebrated any time. What if, either before or after your dad leaves, you have a family celebration? It might have to be scaled back and maybe not everyone, but an attempt at a togetherness?

I've had to work on Christmas Day, though, so I know how that can be. The jobs I've had over the years have covered all 365 of the calendar, so I learned to try to make the time special, whenever you can grab it. It's not quite the same, but it can be a useful thing to have.

Plus, next year will be even more special. Promise.
