OH NANO!

Yep, I'm doing it this year. [livejournal.com profile] hihoplastic's fault!

I have never done this before! She informed me that there was a website and that I had to sign up, and that I could be friends with people!

I am mylittleredgirl! Be my friend!

I will be writing the Ares pilot and, I guess, subsequent episodes if I run out of pilot before I run out of words.

I'm totally crazy! But honestly, it will be unbelievably nice to bury my head in something other than my life for a month (well, another month, because [livejournal.com profile] sparktober was pretty darned efficient at that too!). It's like that old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough get enabled to do nanowrimo.

:)

Be my frieeeeend!

Friended. I'm faeryfey over there. :)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray!! :-D

I just printed out the Young Novelist Workbook from their young writers site. ;) I, um, love workbooks. A lot. Hee.

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
YES. I think that will be a requirement! Brainsplode!

I realized that Portland, where I live, is kind of a hotbed of in-person nano activity! I'm going to go to the kickoff on Saturday if I can get over being SCARED. :)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yayyy!! :-D What are you writing this year??

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Friended!! :-D Hopefully noveling will be happy and will not crash and burn on day 1. ;)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's very good of you to think about the universe's lesbian-Trek-crossover requirements!! :)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
This will be so totally necessary! Here, I will give you the script:

LR: "OMG. I fail at this completely! I'm not going to do it. I'm cool with that."
Havoc: "Nano started literally eight hours ago, LR, and most of that time you've been sleeping."
LR: "SO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO IT!?!?!???"
Havoc: "YES!"
LR: "REALLY????"

It will go a lot like that. <3

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*squeeeeeeee* It makes me ridiculously happy to see "Vera/Alex" written down by someone other than me! Hehehehe. OTP!

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
'Tis a sacred duty I am bound to assume. ;)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
And you do it with such aplomb! The universe is lucky to have you! :-D

You're making me want to write MY pilot!

Are you writing yours in actual script form, or prose?

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Prose! In my wild fantasy dream-world, I'll do it as a series of novella-kinda-fics so I can write more episodes!

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*blushes*

I think this is the most excited I've been. Sure, it's pretty much just for me, but I'm psyched. Are you? *bounces*

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really psyched! Kind of traumatized with fear! But excited!! :)

I still have so much to do for Sparktober! Must focusssss!!!! *runs around in little circles twirling with glee*

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Tomorrow is my Sparktober day, hopefully I'll be able to do something. Is a special month, after all. ;)

Twirling does make it better!

I'm kind of psyched to get to ignore ALL other fic and just do this, which I like best (even though it is least favoured by anyone who reads my journal) *looks innocent*
icepixie: ([SG-1] Didn't teach this in grad school)

[personal profile] icepixie 2010-10-27 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
More episodes, yay! :D

I'm thinking prose if I ever write mine...though I think really what I'd like to do is write short, fluffy fic for it. Er. I fail at this creator thing.

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you were winning over the masses by sheer force of will?

You should totally do what you want!! I'm sure everyone on my journal would demand lantisfic over Ares if I gave them the choice... so... I didn't give them the choice. ;) I plan to win them over by force of will also. Also, it will make my ENTIRE LIFE if anyone writes fanfic for my fake show. REALLY.

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually totally fail at the creator thing! I want to jump right into the fic. ;) It will be hard not to rush into the relationshippy bits right away! But I'm really really excited about my story.

You should do nano and your pilot! Or not your pilot, just 50K of show fanfic set whenever you want! *enables* *pleads* *harrasses*

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I do win, little bits at a time "I don't ship this but your characterisation is good" is a victory. *nods*. (I think sometimes I still expect Sparky- fandom all the time dammit)

The fake TV shows are awesome. :) I'm really psyched for this. Will you be posting as you go? or waiting and posting at the end?

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know!! It depends on how much it totally sucks as I'm writing it!? Ahahaha. I wouldn't want to spend too much time polishing for posting midway (except I can't HELP THAT, so, ehm, we might get like 10K of nano out of me). I have no idea if people would be at all interested in reading as I go - I'd worry I'd be clogging up the flist! (I always over-worry about that, though.) What will you do??

Sparky fandom: "OH GOD I LOVE THIS PAIRING EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OMG!" Like that?

[identity profile] oparu.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It won't suck!!! it'll be made of win. really!!

If I post as I go, I'm generally happier, oddly enough. I'm more motivated and since it's a big femmeslash/gen thing, if anyone reads it, I'll be more motivated. I'm a sucker. Also not a big worrier. I usually think I'm good.

Sparky fandom was fun like that. ;) ah well. I do like my pairing being so small that it's ALL mine. (kinda like original fic)

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'm naturally lazy. I want my fandom to have a lot of people in it so I can read things without writing them. And if enough people write a plot, I don't have to!

I sometimes get derailed by people commenting on things midway. I mean, it happens even if I don't post it, but I get this fear of "oh god, the beginning of this was so good and now I am RUINING IT!"

You ARE good! :) Objectively, I'm good too? *breaks into cold sweat at typing that* But I have issues where I think everyone secretly hates me. ;) Or thinks I'm vain for presuming anyone would WANT to read my fic. Or whatever. ISSUES! (Medication helps! When I first started in fandom, my betas would have to beg me to post anything, and I was totally that annoying girl whose author note was always "I know this isn't very good, but...")

I'm kind of SUPER SUPER excited that someone might actually read my original story. OMG. And maybe ENJOY IT! Craaaazy. I know the format of at least the first half is going to be in sections (I'm going to write from the POV of each character at a time, to tell the "how we got to Mars" story while I get to know them), so I guess it would be logical and easy to post midway?

[identity profile] katyjo.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Romantic women's fiction with just a hint of magic. And glow in the dark stars. And coffee cake.

Am looking forward to Ares, though. You will let us read it, right?

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You want to read it? Eee!

Yes, I definitely will. :) [livejournal.com profile] oparu is encouraging me to post it in segments as I write in November, so maybe I'll do that? I was originally thinking of posting it at the end, but I'm not sure! Opinions?

Glow in the dark and coffee cake! Two of my FAVORITE THINGS. <3 <3

[identity profile] katyjo.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I want to read it!

Hmm, I think that personally, segments of Ares would give me the necessary encouragement to stop eating coffee cake and start writing about it, through November.

That said, it could also be a lovely reward at the end...
