Totally agree with you about most of the DS9, TNG, VOY, X-Files, and Stargate. Even though I don't know much about the more obscure Stargate pairings. :) Worf and Dax I do get and 'ship, just because they had lots of hothotsex and he was obviously crazy mad in love with her (I like Imzadi II in that it compares Troi and Dax that way). But...I was always a Julian fan first, and anyone he loves as much as Dax he should get to be with. So, I don't hate the canon 'ship, though if I had been watching DS9 when it originally aired I probably would have been a rabid J/J only 'shipper, and fired sporks at the screen over Worf/Dax. Julian/Ezri is spiftastic, 'cuz he finally got the girl. Plus, pretty babies. :)

You are SO right about Ben/Kas and Miles/Keiko. Nobody writes these (except the one NC-17 Miles/Keiko I found which was *lovely* and sillyhappysweet) cause they're so normal and not interestingly screwed up like the ohers, but it is so wonderful that DS9 has happy normal romances! I utterly heart Ben and Kas getting past the Maquis thing. And dude, "sacred" is the right word for the O'Briens. Don't mess with them! I kinda liked the UST between Miles and Kira, but I am so proud of them for *not* doing it on the show, and want to bop Miles/Kira ficcers over the head with a hard object. I wonder if they would have been attracted to each other if not for the strange SF her-having-his-and-Keiko's-kid thing, though. I kinda think not. I can almost see the G/B and O/B 'ships, but prefer not to go there. Kira/Dukat makes me scream and growl.

And you know, I was *just* thinking about Kira/Sisko the other day. I totally don't see it onscreen (except for a little in "Starship Down" when she's trying to keep him awake, and that was more just ubersweetcool friendship stuff. I love that). But if the world were different, and all manner of relationships changed, they would be quite hot together. They *were* apparently, in the Mirror Universe. (Is it just me, or did anyone else think Ben was going "Cool, I get to snog my two hot female co-workers whom I normally respect too much guilt-free 'cause it's not really them" in the Mirror Universe episodes?) And while I really don't like MU Kira as a person (nor her silver suit...I don't find it hot, just strange) I can see MU Kira/MU Ezri. MU Brunt rocks, btw. :)

Kira/Odo I adore as a friendship, and I heart him when he's in love with her and want to comfort him when he's pining after her. But my personal OTP for Kira is Bareil. BajoranLuv! I like Worf/K'Ehleyr, too, though they're more stormy. Matching ridges, and K'Ehleyr rocked. Shakaar is spiftastic, but I thought them not working out in canon was realistic--they have a great bond, but it's more big sibling/little sibling or mentor/mentee than romance--though the development of the romance was believable.

Add to your list of young girls whom Janeway shouldn't shag: Seven of Nine. I don't *get* that--it must just be Hot People Syndrome, which I confess to in other cases but don't see here. Probably because while I recognize that Seven is pretty, I don't find her hot. I *could* 'ship Janeway/B'Elanna in that I can see the chemistry and they're both hot. But the memory of that mother/daughter hug from "Barge of the Dead" when B'Elanna came out of her self-induced coma and just *glompclinged* to Janeway (to Janeway's surprise) always intrudes. And you didn't mention Janeway/Tuvok. (Love the friendship, think they're both hot, but he is SO for T'Pel only.)

Tell me people don't write Janeway/Kes. (Altnernate-timeline Paris/Kes is OK, though.)

Don't hate Picard/Anij. Or many of the other established non-OTP pairings, whether they be "romance on the side while waiting for Teh True Love to wake up and smell the coffee" like Picard/Anij or "old lost love" like Jack/Sara or Daniel/Sha're or Doggett/Barbara or Jack/Beverly or Ben/Jennifer or....sheesh, these people have tragic pasts!

Good bloody Eru, I think about this way too much. But it's so cooool....
