So my memory for these matters is a little rusty, but I think Diman Hall is a sophomore dorm if you want her to have a single or a regular double room. If she's got friends and can live in a suite, you should totally put her in Grad Center, because that place is freaking nuts. It was built in the 60s when they were scared of riots, so all the hallways jag sharply to keep people from... running? Starting a stampede? Who the heck knows!
As for where to have a picnic in the middle of winter... in Rhode Island... um, NOT OUTSIDE. Maybe they could sneak up to one of the upper floors of the Sci-Li (Sciences Library), a concrete monolith where I loved to study because very often you could have a whole floor to yourself, haha. She would do most of her research at The Rock, which houses the humanities books, but that's too populated to spread out a picnic blanket and not get busted.
