I love this so much. It's a perfect interlude between the two episodes, what we should have seen but didn't because the writers tend to gloss over anything that's, you know, related to character development. But this is just beautiful. And now personal canon for me.

I love how John tries so hard to be there for her, but he really has no idea how. How he keeps saying things - Heightmeyer, asking Carson for sleeping pills - that are so well intentioned and yet completely the wrong thing to say. It's so John.

I could quote the entire fic back to you, but I think my favorite parts were:

John shakes his head. Losing Elizabeth was never an option. Especially in light of what happens later... god. That's a beautiful, painful line.

He shouldn't feel like her prognosis has, somehow, taken something away from him. The entire notion just kills me. I hadn't really thought of that before I read this, and it just made my heart ache. This line, and the entire way you wrote it, had a great deal to do with that. Poor Lizabeth. :(

And that entire second to last scene in the jumper. Just gorgeous. So perfect and them and ngughg why isn't this canon??

Forgive my blabbering - I'm so terrible at leaving reviews, and articulating why it is I love a piece of writing so much. But I really, really do love this. Thank you so much for writing it.
