Re: as usual, you and I are so better than the steekin' comment limits *WEG*

For me, a 'ship should not negate the friendships/relationships that both partners carry through their lives.

YES. YES. YES. It's perhaps my biggest pet peeve in fanfic when A and B like each other and so they pretty much hate everyone else all of a sudden. I'm explaining it badly, but it's like... if Grissom and Sara get together, he won't be able to stand Catherine because the ficwriter is threatened by Grissom and Catherine getting together. You know? PET. PEEVE. Rar.

To Gil she *IS* better at it than he is, much better and he's absolutely fascinated by it. It's just adorable to watch him try and figure it out while Catherine tries to *show* him and fights how exasperating that can be *G*

Love it! And she flies off the handle so easily, and he just kind of waits her out, because really, he would have zero clue how to relate to her on that level, and it's better to just wait until she becomes mostly-sane and open to logic again. I can see her early in their working relationship having lots of moments of "But doesn't that PISS you OFF!?" and he's all "... no. It's just evidence." But because she has at least SOME EQ, she figures him out before he figures her out. But they handle each other well, so yay. BFF! ;)

It was the one where she got that guy killed by telling the husband about his affair with the dead wife.

No, it wasn't! But I love that scene. The scene I was talking about was once when he got taken off a case and so Catherine rounds up the gang to help him out with it on their off-time (it was... a serial killer, I think? It might even have been the one where he royally pisses off the Federales). And she just waltzes into his place while he's there alone and he's all pissed and she's all "That's nice, Gil, now recognize that I'm being nice to you and let's go solve this case." Because all the rest of them are hiding outside his place, and she had to go in and get him, either because she drew the short straw or because she's the obvious choice.

But the scene with the affair and the dead wife... I LOVE that scene! She totally hit him where it hurts, because she knows him that well, but he totally doesn't react to it the way she would, and they're both just "I DON'T GET YOU BUT I'M PRETENDING I DO!" I also like how both she and Sara have said that they want to be like Grissom, but Catherine was being sarcastic and Sara really means it. (Oh, so THIS is why multishipping is so cool! You get to analyze different pieces of the characters based on how they fit together! I get it now!)

(HEE! CSI BBQ! Analyzing the burn patterns on the chicken! *G*)

OMGEEEEE!! PLEASE say you have written this! That's just fantastic. :) Actually, I don't know that it needs to be written -- the mental image may just be enough. I see Grissom at the grill and Warrick and Sara behind him arguing about something about it, and Catherine and Nick egging Lindsey on to torment Greg, and it would just be really cute.

Yet she probably breezes through the door with like dinner and maybe even Lindsay in tow and is all "yeah, Linds has a science affair thing with an ant farm..." and *KNOWS* Grissom is going to be all over *THAT*.

Oh, how perfect! Grissom totally buys Lindsey stuff like ant farms and then the ants escape and Catherine goes on a rampage and Lindsey and Grissom are screaming "No! NO! Don't kill them!" and it'd be great.

Lindsey is totally the Cassandra of this show -- she's everybody's surrogate offspring because they have none of their own. I think one of my favorite scenes so far is totally the one where Nick and Grissom buy Lindsey the same chem set for her birthday and are totally bouncing about it. *squeee* Man, I should totally hate on myself for wanting kid!fic, but I just... always do! I'd love to see how each of our intrepid heroes would behave for an hour or so alone with Catherine's tyke. I imagine all of them have probably had to do it at one time or another. :)
